In a series of blog posts, we’re exploring the benefits of Talon. One to increase efficiency, increase revenue, and decrease risk. Catch up on the other posts in the series here:

When a business is considering a project with Talon. One, we collaboratively estimate the economic value any new functionality will deliver using a range of uplift figures based on confirmed customer results. We also estimate the costs of the project (both the subscription cost of Talon. One and the resources the customer will require to launch and iterate with our product) to estimate the ROI.

We assess our ROI along three core pillars:

In this blog post, we’ll focus on the third pillar, decreasing risk, and look at how Talon. One ensures that the promotions mix is safe from costly risks around fraud, technical performance, and various commerce regulations.

How Talon. One decreases risk for clients

Risk objective 1: Eliminate soft & hard offer fraud

Promotions are vulnerable to both ‘hard’ fraud (bad actors & bots trying to manipulate offers) and ‘soft’ fraud (users who use codes ‘leaked’ unto code aggregators or other websites).

Without Talon. One, brands often send codes to specific users and segments but don’t validate the audience on redemption. Talon. One instead can tie coupons to specific customer IDs: codes are then sent to the precise user via CEP integrations, and validated on the session and at checkout. We regularly observe a 1-2% decrease in discount volume when using Talon. One’s budgets and validation. With revenue of >$50m, this usually represents annual savings in excess of $50,000.

Customer spotlight: SHARE NOW

SHARE NOW, Europe’s leading carsharing company, works with Talon. One to power all of its coupon campaigns. Working in a saturated market means SHARE NOW offers a range of discounts to differentiate themselves, but with already low margins, need to be careful that coupons are only sent to and claimed by specific users. With Talon. One, these checks are all fully-automated - helping prevent a small, but meaningful leak in the revenue bucket.

Risk objective 2: Regulatory compliance

Talon. One adheres to all common data protection and marketing regulations, is ISO 27001 certified and GDPR compliant. This reduces legal risk and protects your business’ reputation by ensuring customer data is handled securely and ethically. In the EU, many brands remain non-compliant with the Price Indication Directive, which sets rules for price transparency. In the U.S., the FTC is enforcing “Dark Patterns,” including false discounts & opaque loyalty program sign-up criteria. We help our customers stay compliant in this ever-changing landscape.

Risk objective 3: Decrease balance sheet liability for member offers

Pending loyalty points are a balance sheet liability. The average loyalty program adds 0.2 - 0.5% of revenue in liabilities with industry average signup rates, point value, and point redemption.

Without Talon. One, loyalty operators are largely only able to offer points and discounts. Talon. One helps operators test & iterate non-financial benefits, including working towards specific benefits and managing partner benefits.

Customer spotlight: Bilt Rewards

Bilt Rewards was founded in 2021, with the goal of rewarding the over 600 billion dollars spent on rent each year in the U.S. with its loyalty program. Talon. One powers the loyalty infrastructure behind Bilt Rewards.

Bilt Rewards supports external benefits with 140+ partners, onboarding 2+ partners each week and managing benefit redemption using our loyalty feature.

Risk objective 4: Optimize technical performance of promotions & loyalty service

A slow promotions or loyalty service presents a pressing risk to site traffic and conversion. While risk varies widely, Amazon cites 100ms latency driving a 1% decrease in sales; while a 500ms delay in page load can reduce Google search traffic by 20%.

Our customers often work with legacy tech with frequent maintenance windows, slow data syncs, and occasional performance degradation during high-volume periods.

Talon. One enhances the technical performance of promotions and loyalty services by providing a high-performing, enterprise platform. This ensures a seamless customer experience and reduces the risk of system errors impacting operations.

Customer spotlight

Talon. One processes >200m session requests on peak days with 99.999% uptime. In our 8 years in business, we’ve had zero service incidents on key trade days like Black Friday.
